Insurance Journal publishes article from Moothart, Daugherty on concerns for the industry due to COVID-19-related claim denials

Seyferth Blumenthal & Harris LLC (SBH) attorneys Bruce Moothart and Nick Daugherty recently co-authored an article published with Insurance Journal, considered the most-read national property and casualty publication for independent insurance agents and brokers.

In the article, Moothart and Daugherty examine the trend of businesses facing unprecedented interruptions due to COVID-19 attempting to use commercial insurance policies to lessen the financial burden. Insurers are often denying the claims, and many states are considering legislation that might force them to pay out. A large wave of related ligation is expected to follow.

The full article, titled “Insurance Denials, Proposed Legislation Raise Concerns,” can be read at this link. Moothart and Daugherty had an article on the same topic appear in the May issue of Ingram’s magazine.
